‘Other Shores’

I lost a friend today, suddenly suddenly
You stole yourself away to other shores
The same old eyes, will gaze at new horizons
Clutching at a place of straw

Weren’t you one with me
Will you long for me
Would you care? Was it not enough?

When you drift into the sea, with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face
When I stumble on the sand and I see a cruel mirage of your embrace
When we’re looking at the sky at two different times, in two different ways
Does a change of scene, always mean a changing heart

I watch the colours fade, lovingly, longingly
Our favourite haunt is now a normal bar
Now each part of town darkens or it tightens
Hiding what it had before

Weren’t you one with me
Will you long for me
Would you care? Was it not enough?

When you drift into the sea, with the wind in your back and the sun on your face
When I stumble on the sand and I see a cruel mirage of your embrace
When we’re looking at the sky at two different times, in two different ways
Does a change of scene, always mean a changing heart
